Plumbing & Heating Engineer (Renewables)

Job description

  • Job Position: Plumbing & Heating Engineer (Renewables)
  • Location: Moray, Aberdeenshire, and parts of the Highlands
  • Employment Type: Part Time/Full Time

Join the future of heating (and energy).
We’re looking for a Plumbing & Heating Engineer who wants to build long-term skills in renewables, not just tick a box. Alongside heat pumps, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in a wider range of home energy solutions, including solar technologies.

Our work covers Moray, Aberdeenshire, and parts of the Highlands, across both new build properties and retrofit projects in customers’ existing homes.

This is a hands-on role working on high-quality plumbing, heating, and renewable energy systems.
You’ll be involved in:

  • Installing and commissioning air source heat pumps, hot water cylinders, underfloor heating & radiator networks, alongside traditional plumbing skills.
  • Working in new build homes as well as retrofitting existing properties
  • Upgrading and adapting heating systems for low-temperature operation
  • Fault-finding, testing, and optimising system performance
  • Supporting the installation of other home renewables, such as solar PV and associated equipment
  • Delivering tidy, professional work with the customer always in mind

We take training seriously.
If you’re new to heat pumps, all training is provided — and it goes far beyond a basic 2-day course.
You’ll receive:

  • Structured, ongoing training in heat pump systems
  • In-depth support on design intent, commissioning, and real-world system performance
  • Guidance on how to set systems up properly and explain them to customers
  • Continued learning as technology and best practice evolves

Our aim is to build engineers who truly understand how renewable systems work, not just how to install them.

You don’t need renewable experience already — a solid plumbing and heating background and the right attitude matter more.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
  • Experience with plumbing and wet heating systems
  • Good understanding of heating controls
  • Full UK driving licence
  • A professional, customer-friendly approach
  • Experience with air source heat pumps or renewables
  • Solar PV or system integration experience
  • Unvented hot water ticket
  • Wiring or controls experience
  • Competitive salary (based on experience)
  • Company van, fuel card & tools
  • 32 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • Family-friendly policies that recognise life outside of work
  • Private medical cover
  • Ongoing, in-depth training across heat pumps, solar, and system optimisation
  • Steady, well-planned work — no constant fire-fighting
  • A supportive team who value doing things properly
  • The chance to build long-term skills in a future-proof sector

We believe in:

  • Doing the job right, not rushing it
  • Investing properly in people and training
  • Supporting engineers to understand systems, not just fit them
  • Building a business that delivers the full home energy picture

You’ll be part of a team that takes pride in quality work and real expertise.

Salary : £35,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)

You don’t need a polished CV to apply.
